OUR STORY

After working in healthcare for ten years, Ali and Ashley knew something was missing: resources for how to optimize health and well-being as a whole. This inspired their partnership — and ultimate vision for Selah Wellness.

Selah Wellness hopes to grow into a brick and mortar center in the future, but for now, Ashley and Ali are excited to connect with their virtual community and offer resources and services to empower people to feel the benefits of making health a lifestyle practice!

Ali Rago Barrett

CRNP, MSN

Ali’s passion for health and wellness began in college. After years of unhealthy habits and feeling uncomfortable in her own skin, she wanted to learn everything she could about health - hoping she would feel confident, happy, and less anxious. It wasn’t until her career as a nurse practitioner in oncology at University of Pennsylvania’s hospital that she learned true wellness went beyond diet, exercise, and weight loss; but rather, honoring all parts of our body, mind, and heart in order to optimize health and prevent disease.

As a new mom, Ali realizes - now more than ever - the importance of self care. She believes we all have the power to feel good, no matter where we are in our journey, or what barriers stand in our way.

“I am so fortunate to share these beliefs with my best friend and soul sister, Ashley. We don’t have all of the answers, but we are thrilled for this opportunity to connect, grow, and learn together with the Selah Community”

Ashley Furlong

MS, NBC-HWC

Ashley feels deeply connected to Selah Wellness’ mission since “there were so many chapters in my own life when I needed practical, health and wellness resources. Navigating day-to-day stressors can feel overwhelming at times. Self-care practices will evolve as life changes, but I feel the positive impact of healthy habits and their ability to enhance mental clarity, energy, and confidence.”

Ashley is a board-certified health coach (NBC-HWC). Presently, she continues to learn as a health and wellness practitioner at the graduate level. A Master’s Program in Integrative Health, at the American College of Healthcare Sciences, helps expand her expertise in areas of holistic nutrition, stress management, herbal medicine, and health education.

“We all deserve to feel good. Being able to connect and collaborate with others, to support them in moving closer to their unique health and wellness goals is an honor; and having the opportunity to partner with a best friend who's also someone I truly admire is such a gift.”

WHY SELAH?

The World Health Organization calls stress “the health epidemic of the twenty-first century.” We suspect this is attributed to today’s culture which normalizes a non-stop lifestyle and constant stimulation, without enough emphasis on the importance of self care. This leaves many people feeling stuck and asking,“What else could I be doing to feel good?” Selah Wellness intends to be a place where people will find answers to that question.

Welcome to the Selah Family.

“When used in text, Selah is meant to invite the reader to be silent and take a pause because the previous idea is important enough to consider it deeply.”
